Queen probably more influential and original, but for me Oasis. I like both, but Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are miles better albums than anything Queen have put out.

I'd say that despite both groups having failings to me (Brian Mays twiddly annoying guitar and the Gallaghers sometimes awful lyrics/songs/entire albums) they have written some absolutely classic pop music between them

They have, but Queen had their own sound and were musically ambitious.... Oasis were the complete opposite, like the Phil Neville of rock music. They were also one of the most unoriginal bands of all time. Not a single original idea. Their entire career was based on trying to copy their idols in every way possible all the way down to their image. They openly admitted this as well.

Queen were talented musicians. Oasis were bang average musicians.

Both wrote catchy songs. Queen will have the better legacy worldwide.

Queen turned out about half a dozen good songs in their whole career. People only remember the hits. They're a singles band and have album after album packed with duds. Great they're technically gifted, middle class art school meffs, that doesn't make them a great band. Also after Freddie died let it go ffs, you're a bland guitarist and a drummer that can sing very high, just retire.

To be fair this also perfectly describes Oasis

This is a legit point though.

There is a funny interview with Sacha baron cohen who was going to do a Queen documentary but got axed from the job because May wanted it to cover Queem all the way up until presemt day whereas Cohen wanted it to end with Freddie.
