With the operating losses QPR have brought upon themselves, Fernandes and Co cannot afford to keep the club beyond getting outline planning permission for the development of their existing ground.

Even if the scheme goes ahead Fernandes will not be around to see it. Other Asian developers will step in, Fernandes with a net worth of roughly 600m USD is not wealthy enough to see it through. He will be hoping to sell the club at a sufficient profit to cover his operational losses.

Looking forward to the 2026-7 season then, for that is the planned date for the stadium.

In the meantime Fernandes and co will seek planning permission for Loftus Road and sell the club. That has always been their end game.

Another club ripped away from its traditional base for the benefit of property developers.

fenandez just said on talk sport that the stadium should be ready for 2017/18 season and the rest of the development will take 10 years.

Liverpool Council have offered Everton plenty of help over the years. Plenty.

Not as much as they have offered Liverpool.

LCC helped Liverpool with compulsory purchase orders of the homes surrounding Anfield, they allowed Liverpool to have planning permission for Victorian parkland that Everton - although they never applied for officially - enquired about informally in the late 1990s and were told it wasn't possible by the council. LCC also faciliated an £8.2m grant to Liverpool from the European Regional Development Fund for them to build on Stanley Park, money which has since been paid back because the plans collapsed.

LCC could do more for Everton, as often said so publicly by the club.
