QPR have to pay over £40 Million fine for breaching FFP

Financial fair play rules are in places to stop clubs gaining an unfair advantage by over-spending on players.

With that in mind, it does seem slightly harsh to impose a £40,000,000 fine on a now impoverished Championship club whose transfer policies actually led to two relegations in just three seasons.

That Fernandes guy has made a real hash of things. When he took over as Chairman, QPR were in the Premier League and had NO debts. Now they're struggling in the Championship and have debts of around £100,000,000.

I can see them going bust, which is a shame because I always loved visiting Loftus Road as an away fan in the 1980s. Friendly locals and a ground that's unbelievably close to the pitch.

Narrowest concourse on Earth though

Even though it's been through an arbitration process they still have the right to appeal, which they are duly doing, so don't think it's done yet.

Doubt they'll ever get the fine halted but when you read the fine details of the case, I wouldn't be surprised for the fine to be somewhat reduced.

Still, that's what you get when you spend copious amounts on tosh like Ryan Nelson, Junior Hoilett and Christopher Samba amongst others.

Yeah, they should have bought top class players like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klassen and Yannick Bolasie instead!

Meanwhile this guy drives off scot free from yet another financially devastated club:

FFP is also in place to stop clubs living beyond their means and going bust but can’t see how fining a club £40m is helpful to stop this happening

Considering if they were to spend that £40m on a player it would get into further problems with this FFP stuff...

Fine is more than double that of Man City a few years ago.

Wouldn’t happen to a fashionable Chanpions League club.
Probably UEFA sending a message to any club trying to break into the top echelons of football and upsetting the apple cart of the big clubs.

exactly this, always the same with them and FIFA, they don't have the balls to throw the book at an actual big player. That transfer ban they gave barca was an utter joke, still letting them buy players. Will they say to QPR, ah you can pay the fine over 1,000 years? doubt it.
