When did thus come about, the idea of North and South America being two separate continents.
When I was at school we were taught there were five continents.....Europe, Asia, Australia, America and Africa.
(I am not forgetting the icy regions at either end of the globe.....no one lives there)
And I think the IOC has five rings on its flag, in recognition of this fact.
But somewhere along the line the someone seems to have succeeded in establishing the notion that there are two continents on the American landmass.
