The future of Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis is unclear two days before the club's opening game of the Premier League season against Arsenal.
Pulis is currently holding crisis talks with Palace owner Steve Parish.
The friction relates to who is responsible for which areas of the club amid simmering tension between the pair which has heightened in recent weeks.
Former Stoke City manager Pulis, 56, has been frustrated by the failure to land a number of his targets.
Bookmakers' odds tumbled on Thursday morning as speculation over the Welshman's job intensified.
Pulis was praised at the end of last season for keeping Palace in the top flight.
Pulis wants to assume greater control of all football matters at Selhurst Park - especially transfers.
Currently it is the role of Parish and sporting director Iain Moody to deliver the players that Pulis earmarks.
Moody joined from Cardiff City in November where he had held a similar role before being dismissed by the owner Vincent Tan.
Palace signed
Liverpool full-back Martin Kelly on Thursday, while striker Fraizer Campbell arrived from Cardiff for £900,000 and former
Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland joined on a free.
