Taking the missus out for lunch today to the Hanover Street Social - looks like the weather is going to be wild later so can't wander to our usual haunts around Dale St/Hardman Street

Any recommendations for decent boozers around the Hanover Street area? Nothing too lively as we're both old farts now (can't be arsed with 'Instagram bars'

Before anyway says it - I've already tried getting a booking at the Lisbon but they're absolutely rammed in there

Kazimire garden is the only one I know around there, it's a bit bohemian so tends not to be full of idiots.

….Hanover Social have a decent menu, used to be a few ‘afternoon boozers’ around Slater St, Wood St.

On Hanover st. You’ve got McCartney,s bar good for watching sport, Head of steam, over the road ok for older types, and Alberts Schenke near Hanover st.social

The Bridewell is a good choice. You're only a few minutes away from Hanover Street and there's a decent selection of ale. Otherwise, the Globe.

If you want to try the Lisbon even if its busy, you can normally get in via the back entrance.

If you want unpretentious pubs The Swan or Ye Cracke would fit the bill.

Brass monkey just round the corner is a nice little bar.

I enjoy the head of steam for the great selection of ale myself.

How about the Baltic Fleet, just over the road from the Hanover Social ?

Cracking beer, full of character, not a North Face tracky in sight.

One of my favourite city centre boozers.
