Pubs after Covid

One of the unfortunate casualties of the lockdown is the community many folks have lost by not being able to have this type of interaction at the pubs. I feel bad specially for those people that live on their own and have not been able to have this sort of interaction because if the lockdown.

Has the government issued any timeframe for some of these establishment to begin opening?

17th May at the earliest, but it`ll be table service etc.

Table service in my local last time, consisted of sitting down and shouting at the bar - " Oi Brian ( the owner ) a pint of the usual please, you slapping the money down on the table and him leaning over the bar with your pint and putting it onto your table lol

Hopefully the UK will be in a much better position when it comes to Covid next month so this can happen.

Hahaha, sounds like table service is all about learning to shout a bit louder and keeping your hands to yourself lol

I love the kind of table service you get when on holiday.... attentive staff that stand back, don't hassle you, but know when you are ready for another drink. They get it to you just in time... perfect! No nonsense, pressure or hassle... just simple efficiency.

I don't mind waiting at the bar for a drink, so long as it's not too busy, and you get served quickly. I hate, with a passion, the British way of standing six-deep at a busy bar, desperately trying to make eye-contact with the bar-staff, or hoping the guy next to you is aware enough to point out that you should be next to be served!

Slow service, and I'll just move on.... or go home. And why can't they have a proper queuing system?
What about when the bar area is rammed and you get the usual lard arses sitting by the bar so you have to literally reach round to grab your drinks.

I gave up drinking nearly 4 years ago but I do miss sitting in a beer garden in summer. Strangely though my fiends list have whittled down since I stopped drinking, turns out I have bugger all friends when alcohol isn't involved lol.

Les, what happened !

….have been going to my bar for many years but only been back a few weeks and it’s certainly changed in respect of regulars missing. I suppose folk get used to not going. Life has changed and perhaps the pub is a good indicator of that.
