Pubs after Covid

Are we going to see the demise of wet only pubs after the virus ? Will the actual experience of pub going change forever ? Hopefully the iniquity of tied pubs will diminish drastically, and reduction in alcohol tax would be a boon.

Table service could become more popular.

If it's done well it works great but if it's done badly, it is awful.

Standing at the bar could stop, which would be a real shame.

A good beer pub, with ample seating, no skrikiing children, no loud music so you can actually talk with mates and a decent selection of ales .... if they go out of business I'll just stick to my homebrew ta.

Pubs with grub are alright - but I've been to too many where there are acres of empty*reserved* tables for hours ruining any atmosphere while z few drinkers are crammed around 1 table.

I agree entirely. It’s been something I’ve done since I was a young lad having a pint with my old man and arguably what feels the most natural.

Sitting down in a pub feels odd to me unless you’re abroad.

I think it's too culturally ingrained despite what they might try to do post covid. Couple of pints in on a busy night and everyone will revert to type.

I doubt that there will be many reopening ever again..
