Projected Timeline of Recent Case of Police Brutality

Besides the BS I have endured since that point. Consider - Barry George. Consider the many Muslims that have been harassed and in at least one case shot whilst being investigated. One off case? Take the blinkers off, it would be easy to sit around and condemn those beaten up and killed by plod - but it is only when they are held to account (or not as this case shows) that the powers that be reign in their legions of bloody minded killers and the barrier between everyday person and suspect is respected.
There is a fascinating thread on Rawk about the payout a 17 year old got who was tackled and cuffed and was allowed to have his face mauled by a police dog whilst the officers stood round and laughed.
You do not prevent crime by committing it. Lead by example and all that old fashioned common sense.

Okay let's take a deep breath.

Yes there are one-off incidents and those officers should be punished.

But there are approximately 450,000 to 500,000 reported crimes/incidents each month according to the UK crime stats website.

So as a proportion of the whole it's not even 0.001% is it?

I'm sure you acknowledge that the majority of police officers out there are decent people? Doing a hard job?

On that basis it's a bit twisted to call the whole force out for the crimes of a few?

Finally, a grown up response. Exactly my aim from the off.
I believe and have some personal experience of some officers being the salt of the earth, as good as gold, the best you could hope for.
Consider, how many crimes by the public actually get reported then how many get followed up. That is not the responsibility of the cops - never has been never will be.
Consider, how many crimes by those in uniform actually get reported and then followed up instead of squashed via the chain of command. That is the responsibility of the entire organisation and their pay masters - forever.
The what is in my opinion a very loose recruiting policy allows some real scum of the earth into the selection process for being police - some make it, some dont. I cannot answer for why more upstanding members of society dont pursue a career in said discipline - I guess because it has been so tainted to the core that in a social environment admitting to being a plod regardless of how high up the chain is still a social stigma of the powerful versus the powerless and the blind support that entails in the judicial court system.
Your "0.001%" is a disgusting joke and seeing as this was a thread reinvigorated after the findings of a criminally killed innocent man, I'd expected slightly better behaviour.
So far as the vast majority of officers, for me the evidence speaks - the vast vast majority will turn a blind eye to the behaviour of another uniform. Hard job or otherwise, if I was a surgeon and kept killing all my patients I'd be removed from surgery in future - that discipline isnt there for plod because the numbers need to be kept up by their paymatsers.
So far as 'calling out' for the crimes of the few - I usher you towards those with black skin, or with an irish accent, or that pray at a mosque or who used to be homosexual, or in the really bad old days used to play at the synagogue. Lets not lie to each other about the virtueousness of state funded and state protected organisations paid to produce resuslts.

You're more than a little bit mental, full of so much hate.

Okay I disagree that being a policeman is a social stigma in most parts of the UK. Some maybe but not all.

You think 0.001% is a sick joke? Okay then tell me how many incidents of police brutality were there last year? And if you're concerned a large number go unreported (I disagree but what the hell) then double it or treble it. The percentage relative to the overall number of incidents will still be tiny.

I am glad you accept a number of officers are first class. Again you probably don't personally know hundreds of policemen so that's a good percentage (unless you're a criminal yourself? Not judging you - each to their own.)

Again you use the phrase "kept killing all my patients" - that's a bit daft isn't it? In 2011 there were 23 deaths in police custody, seven following police pursuit, one involving a police vehicle and two from shooting - including Mark Duggan. That's relative to 10 to 12 million police incidents that year.

And irony of irony I am Irish, my skin is as black as the ace of spades and I have a picture of Graham Norton above my bed.

Yes there are some bad policemen but of the 136,000 in England and Wales probably 135,864 are doing a mighty fine job. Statistically speaking.

Lol and some of you here were taking this douchebags side when he was having a pop at me over the last few days.

Der nazis r everywher maaaan! Fite der power!
