Reckon this could ever take off in this country? I don't mean that pony Masters nonsense, but a set-up completely separate from 11-a-side. Like that futsal thing in S America.

There must be loads of great 5-a-side players out there who are rubbish at 11-a-side.

Yeah, but it was full of aged has-beens and second string players.

A separate 5 a side league could really work, make a complete fresh start with it, maybe link it to universities like the NFL draft. Properly priced it could do well in the many arena around the country.

He was. North American indoor soccer is a bit different than futsal. They basically put artificial turf down on a ice hockey rink, so you play with walls.

It's not always five-a-side, sometimes there are more players. Since it's not a codified FIFA football game the rules vary.

Maybe this is my calling. I'm going to pack in my job and set up a professional indoor football league.

Seems like it would be easier to just promote futsal in England more. The games are so similar.

I've watched some American indoor soccer and the ice hockey dasher boards and the huge bounces off the artificial turf make the sport comical. It's very hard to take it seriously.

Futsal is boss. But there's less scope to do amazing things in five a side like long range screamers, big tackles or raking passes, and it's very cramped so while skills can be done it's rare you'll take someone out the game with a trick like you can on a full sized pitch.

I think for that reason it 5-a-side or a variant of it wouldn't quite take off.
