Oh right. That evidence.

OECD's programme for international student assessment created in 2000. In that year, Britain came seventh in reading, eighth in maths and fourth in science. Three years later our schools were ranked 11th, 18th and 12th. By 2006, Britain had fallen further, to 17th, 24th and 14th.

In the same period education spending went up from £40 billion to £70 billion.

I'll not be sending my wee 'un to a private school. My mum is a teacher in a senior school and is a bl**dy good one. Do you get a better class of teacher in a private school? I don't think so.

It's like private patients vs NHS - you get the same theatre, food, surgeon and theatre team, just posh lockers and a side room.

Private schools get the same curriculum, and teachers who have the same degree.

I've absolutely nothing against them, I'm just not going to send my kid to one.
