A Blackpool fan working on the Countdown team has used the show's famous conundrum to play a prank on fierce rivals Preston North End.

The unnamed production employee on the Channel 4 teatime show spelled out 'PNE CRISIS' in the brain teaser, referring to Preston's recent relegation, reports the Metro. The actual answer to the conundrum was 'Priciness'.

Discussing the situation, a Channel 4 spokesman said: "One of the members of the production team is a lifelong Blackpool fan and it was intended to be friendly banter, all done in good humour."

Last November, filming on Countdown had to be halted after a contestant discovered the word "s**tface" in the letters section.
