I'll be so sad if we don't hit the season hard right from the 1st match to the last, plenty of neutral comments left on that site indicate great admiration for our club.

At the last game of the season against Newcastle,I said to my mate "If we can hang on to our best players and get Pienaar in,we'll be laughing next season"...
The way it's looking,my prayers could be answered,coz we looked the bollocks after Jan last season....

The article praises our squad and actually challenges us to win a trophy and have a go from the start, quite refreshing for media personnel to point out that we can do better than we have been doing.

I wouldn't say most like mate but you always get the odd few dickheads, they like to forget just how good Everton are as a team in the 2nd half of the season considering we wipe the floor with most post jan. That's why i and everyone else are desperate for some solid 1st half of the season form from the lads. Last year was weird cause in lots of games we looked good but lacked creativity and a definitive goalscorer in the final third, if Jelavic can carry on from last year, Pienaar doing what he does best, Naismith seeming to be a decent player with good passing infront of goal then i have no doubt our team is strong enough to compete for a europe spot, an FA Cup run similar to last season would be good too that's if we can ignore the big game pressure and go out not thinking your gonna be beat but knowing your gonna win.

I'm quite an optimistic supporter as you can probably tell, i just wanna see Everton on the way forwards for a change, last season was like watching milk go sour really, the additions to the squad last jan and this season i think will spice things up a bit.

@SummerSkin - i agree mate, refereshing indeed.

Nice to see a RS post this: 'Pienaar re-signing is a quality move. If Jelavic keeps scoring and they keep Baines, they'll have a great chance of finishing above us again.

If they started playing properly before Christmas, they would probably win the league'

I rate the guardian's sport guys a lot. They tend to know what they're on about.

I really hope we qualify for Europe next season, if not I can see the likes of Fellaini, Heitinga and maybe even Jelavic moving on next summer.

Most media expect us to do well with the team we have cause they aren't clouded with hatred for Moyes, Kenwright or the warm Chang. I'd be surprised if many Journo's tipped us for outside the top seven with most saying 5/6 or possibly better,
all together now,
As long as we get off to a good start.

I think it's quite a good review tbh. We DO buckle under pressure of the big occasion and I really hope are mind set can change on that front. IMO were still deffinately 1 player (RW) maybe 2 (back up jelavic) short of making strides forward this coming season and without more recruits 7th/8th is prob about where we will end up.

For me the top 3 positions are out of reach and will be taken by utd city and Chelsea. If arsenal keep RVP they will also be challenging that lot and top 4 could be out of reach even if we signed RW and another striker! After that tho IF (and I keep stressing that) IF we sign a RW hopefully Donovan who we know works in our team I think were right equally in the mix with spurs and Liverpool and Newcastle (who knows what there gonna be like) to be the best after those 4 and be outsiders to challenge for a 4th spot.

We have to get this season off to good start and try to keep everyone fit, if we can maintain and go on to a undefeated run then we can start talking Europe and even champions league. COYB
