Here's my guess of what will happen over the summer:

United
De Gea and Jones seem nailed on. I think they need some creativity in central midfield. They'll get outbid for Sneijder. I reckon Adam could do a job for them. I'm surprised that they gave Owen a new contract, because I think they need a new striker. My guess is that Fergie will stick with what he's got though.

Arsenal
A lot depends on whether Nasri and/or Fabregas leave. Parker alongside Wilshere for club and country makes a lot of sense to me. Hazard would seem to be an Arsenal-type player. Oxlade-Chamberlain would appear to be bound for the Emirates too. If I was Wenger I'd look at a deal for Shay Given to give Szezesny a bit more time to develop. Will they want another centreback once Vermaelen and Koscielny are both fit? If so, somebody with experience of the division would be favourite, such as Cahill. Perhaps they can strike a deal for Benzema if Bendtner goes?

Chelsea
I think Sanchez would be excellent for them. Neymar seems like a done deal too. How do you accommodate him though with Drogba, Anelka, Torres, Kalou and Sturridge already on the books? I think there will be one or two departures. Lukaku has been mentioned for them as well. They need pace and width. But most of all they need to bring their average age down.

Man City
If I was Mancini my top target would be Sneijder. I can see them doing a bit of business with Real too. Adebayor definitely seems to be on his way to the Bernebeu. I would be surprised if Tevez didn't make the move too. Madrid would have to throw in some pretty serious makeweights. Maybe Higuain and Kaka? A midfield trio of Kaka, Sneijder and Silva would be awesome. I would expect them to have an interest in Baines. Maybe some more width too? Nobody immediately springs to mind.

Spurs
Friedel is a strange one. Ben Foster seemed like an obvious target. They could do with a slight re-shuffle. Maybe someone like Hulk to play as the lone striker? They need to play with one up front to accommodate Van der Vaart and neither Crouch nor Defoe has the attributes to do the job by themselves. If they're letting Palacios go, Holden would do very well in that role. It looks like Harry is grooming Sandro for it though. With Walker returning to the club to claim the rightback berth, centreback is the only position that needs attention. Lescott might not be a bad shout.

Liverpool
Henderson is a Kenny-type footballer, but where's he going to play? Lucas is under-rated, but has topped all the stats charts for his position. Perhaps Mereiles is making way? Dann ticks all the boxes for them. N'Zogbia would be a good signing too. If Coentrao doesn't go to Madrid, I could see him doing well for the RS. They're going to need cover for Carroll and Suarez. With their 'Buy British' policy, Wickham would seem a likely candidate.

If City get Higuain, and he stays fit, they will win the league. However I cant see Mourinho (especially now he has won his little war with Valdano) letting Higuain go before Benzema, nor can I see them spending money on someone as second-rate (at their level anyway) as Adebayor is. Kaka is probably on his way out though, albeit he must be on stupid money so its probably only Chelsea or City that could ever afford him.

As for the rest, its fairly sensible except it seems obvious that Drogba is the odd man out at Chelsea; also even Kenny wouldnt be able to dispose of Merieles without it escaping disapproval - personally, I think its Stevie G who will find himself becoming a bit more surplus as time goes on, their upturn in form last season appeared to coincide more with his absence than the return of Dalglish.

I read something that Real were preparing a £16m bid for Adebayor. I don't especially follow them, but it seems that the forwards they have have struggled to settle. It appears inevitable that Tevez will go and that he wants more of a latin environment. I don't think Barca need or would want him, so the obvious destination is Madrid. Some sort of a swap would look to be on the cards.

Drogba was amongst the top assist-providers in the league last year. He is about 33 though and it would look like he's not going to be able to forge a partnership with Torres. On the other hand, Kalou only has a year left on his contract and Anelka is more often than not the odd man out.

I don't think that Kenny fully trusts Lucas. If Henderson isn't his replacement, then Phil Jones may well have been. I think Gerrard's effectiveness will wane, but I don't think they're ready to move on without him just yet.

You can bank on Madrid making a marquee signing. Last week it was Aguero on the front covers over here. This morning it's Neymar. One of the big guns will set the ball in motion and then the the summer rollercoaster of signings will get underway*. Which will end up with us signing Lee Trundle on the 31st of August.

*Mixing metaphors is the new.

It does seem like a lot of exciting talent is up for grabs this year. I know United are supposed to be keen on Nasri, but I think he'd do well at Chelsea. Hamsek from Udinese would be an ideal replacement for Scholes in my opinion. Honda would fit in well somewhere like Arsenal.
