I've said it before and I'll say it again.

After watching QPR, they'd be lucky to finish midtable in MLS.

Yes, I'm being serious.

Right now...yes unfortunately.

My business partner was flying out of Chicago yesterday morning and ran into Toronto FC in the airport.

Aha lucky him....

They've never been any good since Dichio gave up...and even then. Never really warmed to Toronto FC, a lot of fans are too much like kopites....which a number of them actually are. Summer in T.O all about the Jays for me.

I sat second row behind our bench at the match at Philadelphia Union. The team played like the Union players had the Ebola virus oozing out of every pore. Had no interest in tackling or contact or making a challenge. And Moyes did not say a word. (it was like an NHL AllStar Game - Mapleleaf Evertonian will know what I mean by this) Game was solely used for fitness and get used to touching the ball at game speed. If this is how they treat preseason games, than from a competition stand point, it matters not who we play. Preseason tours are solely for: 1) Getting the players away from their families and usual routine and focused on training; 2) team bonding; 3) training; 4) making a buck.

Sound, but as has already been raised, it doesn't look likes it's bringing much revenue in.

They can get away from their families, although I don't really see the importance of that as long as they train hard.
Team bonding? That can be done anywhere, you don't need to travel half way around the globe.
Training? you mean like hanging around in airports and stuff? Boring and mentally draining. I'm sure that's great for the "team bonding," also.

You are right about the approach to the game, we could play against our own kids in that fashion. Which brings me to one of the main points I was making[and I'm not gonna be dragged into the merits of the MSL] which was that playing games against American and Spanish teams in pre-season is not gonna prepare a team for a blood and thunder early-season clash against a newly promoted team managed by somebody like Neil Warnock. We are struggling to beat sides like this, and I'd like to see us adopt a more british/physical approach to pre-season friendlies in general.

First, it's not bringing revenue in because the club chose not to maximize it (which is a dumb decision imo). At least park an RV with shirts for sale next to the stadium store. I mean really? It's not that hard.

MLS is a highly physical league (lots of rough physical challenges and tackling) that resembles the EPL (minus Arsenal) on that front - something fans joke about actually because it leads to some horrid decisions by our horrid refs. So it's a better physical game that you're playing in pre-season in America because MLS players are playing hard as they are 90 minute fit and all those British teams that you're talking about frankly, are not, because they are just gearing up to play.

Plus, these MLS sides want to win. There is incentive to shining against EPL squads and showing what MLS can do. MLS fans still have a giant chip on our shoulder about that.

I think that's what you meant by "more British" - MLS provides that.

Halfway around the globe? It's a 5 hour flight to the East Coast in business class. MLS teams travel that every week (in coach). You have to fly that for Champions League matches. Cry me a river. If Everton can't deal with 1 plane trip to the US, and 1 plane trip back to make a buck and expand their audience in pre-season, it's sad.

Well said Wratho and TX Bill, and Wratho, I'd say we're on the whole solidly Championship Level at this point to TX Bill's point about QPR. We have some bottom feeders and our depth isn't there, but the starting XI for most teams is Championship Level - we've passed League One imo.

Face it, it's a waste of time and effort. our pre-season preperations are obviously not good enough, as evidenced by how utter ****e we are at the start of seasons.

Sorry if i've upset one or two MLS fans, I don't care, I don't rate it, at all. Anyway I said I'm not god be dragged in to the debate on that one[opinions and all] I couldn't care less. I only care about Everton.

That's fine if that's your opinion, but a lot of people judge the league without knowing much about it. So we were just trying to educate you. :) Hope you learned more about it in the context of Everton.

I'm glad they come here and I hope theY come west one day or I'm remotely in their area - I would LOVE to see them in person. I want to see a game in Goodison one day though. Hopefully soon!
