PPI Refunds

Got a few quid back on these over the years, over 9 grand , don't be fobbed off by the bank in a phone call, I got told I didn't have any, checked in the branch they said the same, then got a letter saying they were stopping some insurance or something on my account.
I rang there claims department and said I thought I didn't have any insurance (PPI) and could they check again , I said I would write to make a formal request, the lad at the other end a pleasant Asian guy said give me ten minutes and I will check for you if you tell me directly what you want searching , I said loans, accounts, insurances under any name they were given anything else you can think of, though bet he comes back with so waffle , no rang back , said I have been through your details and you have at least 5 basically guided me into what to say had happened to claim , did the rest over the phone, I said as I am word dyslexic the forms might be a bit much got one back from 1985 despite most banks saying the don't keep records that long.
Don't go near those firms they are a rip off the form they send you is the same as you can download of the sites, just look on the forums as to why others have been successful and away you go, lie if you have to say they told you this or that to pressurise you into getting it.
Had a bit of a punt with an EGG card I used to have said they didn't have any records of any insurance or account details, but I was lucky as I had a copy of one of my bills in my divorce papers and went to the FSI and put a appeal in, took a while but I won near 3 grand.
Have done a few for other people its not to difficult, so give it a go.

Do it.

Check everything you’ve ever had. Even if you’re certain you didn’t have it. Check.

You might just get a nice surprise.

Before you can’t check anymore in a couple of years time.
Totally agree.
To prove the point, me and my missus are quite savvy with money and thought anything PPI had nothing to do with us.
When all this issue really hit the headlines a good few years back, Alliance and Leicester were proactive and wrote to us saying we were owed money. I thought that was it until recently when she finally caved in and filled out a form for one of these recovery outfits. Turns out we have about four old cards going back a long time that we are due money on.

Cheers chaps. After reading this thread a few weeks ago I spent a couple of hours filling in online forms for various companies. I don't normally go for any insurance stuff like this so it was no surprise that all but one said I didn't have PPI. The one that did though was from Feb 2000. I provided very little details as I didn't have any. Today I got a refund of £1600. Boom. Definately worth doing.

Put it in the kitty for the number 9 in January lad.

If any of yours cards or loans were part of your bankruptcy you can claim ppi however it goes directly towards the debts that were part of the estate. You don't directly get a penny.
