Bingham, Lee, and Howard had to deal with the forces of darkness in ascendence. Big Joe was dealing with a weakened RS outfit - they were average in the 90s. Although take nothing away from the man for putting them to the sword.

Even a "weakened" RS side was finishing in the top 4/5 for most of the 90s. Joe had a much harder job than Moyes to win those matches, who wasn't far off them for most of his time here in terms of league position.

I remember That mid nineties rs side well. Actually one of their most pleasing on the eye football wise. Shaky in defence and mentally very fragile.

That description reminds me of someone.

So basically we are woeful against them.
No wonder the club has such an inferiority complex!
Let's get in a manager who doesn't believe in reputations and goes out to beat every club, no matter what their history against us.

Possibly Torino against Juventus is the only club in one of the great Big city derby match ups that are more overawed by and scared of their opponents than we are of Liverpool.

Man City and Atletico used to be on the same level but Money ( City) and the remarkable Simeone ( Atletico) have broken those habits.

I am 50 and have literally never gone into a derby expecting to win. A lifetime of supporting a subservient second rate club like ours has conditioned me to praying that we escape with a draw. The occasional isolated wins being all the sweeter because I know they're unnatural, unexpected and unlike to re occur for years.

I truly don't believe it will ever change. I expect to live out my life in permanent terror and I no longer blame managers for it....its natural. We fear them like a mouse fears a cat, like an antelope fears a leopard. They are Liverpool We are Everton.
