Post match idea

Yeah but Jags, Stones, Baines, Coleman, McCarthy, Mirallas and Lukaku would surely all get into the 2006 side (which I can't remember off the too of my head)

Well Baines and Jags were in it, and Jags and Lescott were a watertight pairing with goals so I'm not so sure about Stones. Mirallas wouldn't have got in ahead of Pienaar though. Coleman probably, but Yakubu was slotting for fun like Lukaku.

There's far more deadwood in this squad than that one in my opinion.

The pattern of this season:

1. Generic pre-match interview from Martinez
2. Bit of positivity on this board
3. Team news comes out. Despair at yet another one-winger team selection
4. Despair turns to anger as we put in yet another confused performance
5. Lots of poster begin to rant and rave (including me!) as in the end we all care
6. Next morning. Things have chilled a little, then some decide to put out a 'super Evertonian' post saying, don't moan we'll be back up there soon.
7. Generic pre-match interview from Martinez
8. Rinse and repeat

This has been the most monotonous season since the days of Walter Smith- saying people are kneejerkers for wanting Martinez out and dictating what they should be thinking are incredible. It's a forum, every poster (well most) is a Blue- we all want us to get back to winning ways. The simple matter of fact that for the past 10 months, we've had to put up with a cycle of crap performance, followed up by absolutely no changes, to be followed by yet more rubbish from the team. I'm not apologising for wanting to see something different while all of last season's good work gets well and truly buried.

I think the squad we had from 2006-2009 was better personally.

Distin and Alcaraz over Yobo or Heitinga?

Arteta or Barry?

Cahill or Naismith

Howard then or Howard no?

Etc etc...
Picking the best and worst players There dougie..
Howard
Pistone, Weir, Yobo, Heitinga, Naysmith, Neville, Lescott, Stubbs, Baines, Jags (Heitinga joined us in 2009 did he not?)
Graveson, Carsley, Arteta, Cahill, Rodwell, Fellaini, Pienaar, Mc Fadden, Osman
Yakubu, Campell, Anichebe
Lot of good players, but it also covers a vast time scale 06-09 to compare with the current squad is a bit of an unfair. lets do it this way:

Stones and Jags or Weir and Stubbs
McFadden or Barkley
Anichebe or Lukaku

there I would pick all the latter players.

I was picking it on their direct positions in the squad. For instance Anichebie was never our number 1 striker he was a back up like Kone, in this instance I'd rather have Anichebe. McFadden again was used a winger and didn't always play so id compare him to McGeady not Barkley who's a young player who's a central attacking midfielder, maybe you could compare him to Rodwell?

I meant to add in the premier league.
But like merson says if we go down it would be with the best squad of players ever to be relegated

He is correct as well, even to be where we are is shocking, squad to good to go down should also be to good to be outside the top 10.

It will be laughable if this clown takes us down, how can a team go from 5th to become a laughing stock, takes some doing, but he has made it look easy.

Phenomenal doing that, a true master stroke.

What i don't understand is people trying to say its kneejerking, when we have been awful for 12 months now, it isn't over night, or over a injury ravaged period of time, it is 12 months. Martinez has not only shown he cant set up a defense but he also dosen't know his best 11, no place for him to hide now.
