Last went to fratton park years ago when they were in the Old 1st division, they were only in the top flight back then for one season, and now even, it's surprising to see a team in such a position from the one that lifted the FA cup at Wembley some twenty months ago.

When Redknapp did another little Judas act and slipped off elsewhere, that good side was broken down, and the stars of that great day have now moved on, although final scorer Kanu is still there I think.

Now looks like curtains for their Premiership status, so they will have to reshape in the close season, get rid of the dead wood, sort themsleves out and prepare for a testing year at Championship level.

FA CUP 5th round with Southampton, coming up, it's on terrestrial I understand, may well be worth a jealous look-in.

I think the Pompey Board couldn't get their hands on the compensation fast enough - £8 million, I think.

There's a non league team up in this part of the world that were zipping up the leagues until they were refused promotion due to their ground, their sponser pulled out and they had to sack their entire team and play some kids from a nearby college for free instead.

They ended up losing every game played bar a surpise victory over fc man united and finished on -7 points. It's kind of humbling to see that happen to any club but to a team who won the FA cup and drew with AC Milan within the last 5 years, it's just baffling.
