Portsmouth Europa Decision

Starting to think it wouldnt be the worst thing in the World to give it a rest for a Season, would be nice to go to games on a Saturday again.

Bigger fish to fry next season.

Within hours of Liverpool dropping to 7th, they reject the appeal and confirm 7th place will enter the Europa.

Agree that Portsmouths appeal was frivolous, but you have to raise a wry smile at the timing of the confirmation.

I wouldn't be surprised if they considering helping Portsmouth out - causing the delay.

The biggest problem is if the RS win the damn europa goblet - it will put us in europe next year - thats a harder dilema than 'sophies choice' that one

Our chances of achieving a place in the Europa League are not affected by the RS winning it. Firstly the 7th placed team will qualify for next season's EL - obviously we might hope that is us (finishing above the RS). Should it be the other way round their winning it would not open up an extra place. So, you can rest assured that, in the event of them reaching the final we won't benefit from their doing so.. which means you can happily cheer on the opponents. The guarantee of a place for non-prequalified winners applies. So, in simple terms the winners get given an extra place if they fail to qualify via their domestic league (or domestic cup competitions).

Phew!!!!

I think that Portsmouth have a brass neck cheek even to consider that they can carry that mountain of unpaid debt into Europe, given the current anti English stance of the Uefa hierarchy. I think that their fans will understand that trying to get out of the 2nd Division is more important than a euro jaunt.
