Inspirational and unforgettable, just two of the superlatives used to describe the songwriting with the accompanying lyrics labelled hugely profound.

I know there's been more than a few cover versions since but can you name the original artist(s) and what year????

To give you some idea of just how big this one was on the music scene at the time, here's just a few of those wonderfully sublime lyrics...

Here we go, here we go, here we go,

Everton is the best we all know,

We're the team, we're supreme, number one,

And we love you Evverr-ton,

Here we go here we go, here we go,

Side by side as we sing along together,

E.V.E.R.T.O.N.

It's Everton and we are Everton for ever.

I suppose brilliant doesn't quite describe or do it justice.

What good about it is there are no swear words, that always helps.

Yes 1984 cup final song when Watford were battered 2-0.

Tbf football songs as a grouping make up large section of the worst songs ever produced. There's hardly a decent one amongst the whole lot but an endless supply of top candidates for the worst song ever.

I actually think The Three Lions one about the best of a poor lot, at least it's a self parody about the years of misery which makes a change from the banal trite lyrics and painful dirge you normally get.

This was actually the song for the United Cup final in 85.
