Fed up with trying to watch what I say for fear of upsetting someone who I don't know! People are far too sensitive anything that is said to anyone else has to be contextual.

I may be old school and it takes a lot to really offend me people are pussies these days!!

True

Yay or Nay?

I'm a cat owner and I found your use of disgusting, derogatory language not only appalling, but outright inconceivable. How could you use such a sadistic term, without thinking of the grave offense it would cause to a great minority?

There are times when I become frustrated and feel alienated by not always being able to say something in fear that it might make people judge me. However, I can normally say what I need to say without having to offend people.

I can be forceful and diplomatic in most instances.

I would like to think that political correctness protects some people. Our daughter, for example, should not have to hear some div in Middlesbrough call her a 'mutt' because my wife is black and I am white. But it happened.

That is not political incorrectness, that is racist gobsítedness.

In all seriousness it depends on the context.

I laugh at a lot of insensitive, 'politically incorrect things' like racist jokes as long as they're not about slavery or genocide or anything, because I've grown up around mates of different races and gay mates that have done the same. Some would call that politically incorrect, but as long as they're not said around people who take offence that's alright IMO. Not in the way of talking behind peoples' backs or actually being racist, but just not wanting to cause any unnecessary arguments. The same way an old man saying 'coloured' instead of 'mixed race' isn't the end of the world if they don't know any better.

What isn't OK is people being actually racist or homophobic or whatever then saying 'ohhhh it's PC gone mad' when someone pulls them up. Nope, having a gollywog on your wall, calling Asians 'P*kis' and saying that gay people make you sick isn't PC gone mad, it's you being a bell end.

I also find PC quite often as a burden, I hate having to meticulously pay attention to avoid saying anything that could even remotely be considered offending. Why do people always have to accuse me of wanting to be hurtful in the first place?
