Police probe Hillsborough comments by Chelsea fan.

All clubs have their quotient of bellends but from the get go it was dangerous wrapping the tragedy so tightly in an LFC banner.

A "Merseyside United" or even more general "fans united" approach avoiding the tribalism and predictable filth of football would have been the way to go and I suspect would have sped proceedings along.

Even after all these years suspicion, lack of empathy and downright wickedness still surfaces re Hillsborough ...why?

Because it's not seen in the same way as a train or plane full of innocents perishing despite it being EXACTLY the same.

It's become a morphing of departed souls into the LFC entity which unfortunately isn't a good thing for a million reasons.

It is a target that need not have been raised.

I must say I hate all this thought police stuff and Plod getting involved in comments some bell makes on Twatter.

And yet the same police look the other way when children are being molested.

I feel the same. It seems they are easy solvable 'crimes' so it's OK to criminalise them. Some comments are deplorable but I'd prefer a few lads deal with this idiot than him become a criminal. No doubt we'll have a huge social media police department to go with the traffic cops trying to catch you doing 33mph while anyone who has their house broken in to will here sob stories about there being no resources.

As deplorable as the comments are, it is yet more state intervention on the internet and that's not a good thing.

I completely agree. People have every right to hate him for what he has said but I'm getting increasingly annoyed about people getting arrested etc. for offensive statements.

Racism and death threats are the only incidents which warrant state intervention IMO.

There was a story a few days ago about this girl who (yes, this really is a true story) tweeted American Air saying something along the lines of "hey my name is muhamad and I'm going to do stuff tomorrow".

They responded back saying that they were reporting her to the police and she wasn't funny. She absolutely cacked herself. It was embarrassing to read. She got arrested.

Just thought I'd mention that cause it is kinda relevant.

Yeah, agree with what you've said.
