So you don't think earnings affect what jobs people have to take despite their ambitions ?

Of course it does but a police officer is all together a different prospect, you go into the job knowing what it entails, the constant abuse, threats, violence ....and that's just the good bits, I know a lad who now works CID, we played football together for years until he joined the force, when he did his own friends shunned him as he did some of them.......as they say , when you're a copper you're never off duty......it's socially not the same.....that's why I sy it's a career choice you don't take lightly.

Police salaries frozen for three years, shift allowance reduced, competency payments removed, pension contributions increased with final outlay reduced. They are getting shafter and the public will pay the price with shoddier service

They should go on strike.

Then give the miners and dockers and print workers big sticks and shields and let them have a bit of payback.

Never a truer word spoken...

Being an upstanding beacon of honesty and virtue in the community and being relied upon to be strong and fair in times of great adversity are the rewards for such a trusted position.
