I couldn't post to the old thread, something about it being more than 180 days old.

Anyway, anyone still playing regularly?

I've been putting some serious hours in on Pokerstars in the last month... going to see if I can become a regularly profitable player. Have managed to turn an initial $10 (well, $10 + 100% deposit bonus, so really $20) into $95 so far by grinding out micro $0.01/$0.02 PLO cash games.

Have probably put in something north of 60hrs, maybe around 7000-8000 hands, give or take, so enough for variance to even itself out, and I know I can beat this level. Now going to move up to 2c/5c table when I've run my bankroll up a bit more and see how I fare. Gonna take it one level at a time, build up my bankroll slowly by grinding it out at each level before moving onto the next level.

I'm inspired by Ben Grundy, who some years ago posted a "wow" chart of his PLO cash game winnings:

PLO = pot limit ohama?

Yes, mate.
To be honest, now that I've got the hang of it, I'm unlikely to go back to Hold'em, at least online. You can play more hands in PLO, so less sitting endlessly waiting for decent hole cards (and then getting busted by 10-6 offsuit).

Also, to me, I think it would be much more difficult to get a workable PokerBot in PLO. The game is much more nuanced and it is rarely just a case of shoving as many chips in as you can with a high pocket pair. Players who come from NLHE invariably lose at PLO because they over-value pocket pairs. I always suspect on NLHE tables that any classic tight/aggressive player who only plays premium hands is likely to be a bot, which totally kills it for me.

Micro Millions started today on stars. Final table one of those and move up limits!

Your discipline for bankroll management so far is admirable. If you want to make it full time, then you need to keep it that way.

PLO is a beautiful game. Way more fun than nlh

But a 30 BI strat is more than enough for the limits you're at. Up it to 40 when you hit 10/25c and 50 anything above that.

Good luck!

Cheers for the comments. I'm chuffed that you approve of my bankroll management, as someone who (tries) trading, I'm got a keen appreciation for bankroll management, ie never risking too much on any single bet, and being able to survive a string of losses. I already had one drawdown of about 27% when I lost about 4 all-ins to the same donk, despite being ahead each time.

I prefer cash tables rather than STTs or MTTs. Easier to just up and leave when you need to do something else.. useful for when the wife calls for dinner time!

Bankroll is up to $105.. I'm definitely a better player now than I was when I started out for the first couple of weeks, when I used to bust out a lot but still managed to turn in a profit.

I managed to amass nearly 5bn chips on Facebook Zynga poker a couple of years ago, starting from an initial 100,000 I think. However as this is not real money people play much looser, and when you move to playing for real money you invariably get smashed about until you considerably change how you play.
