6 + 2 Point Deductions

Everton statement in full: "While the club is still digesting the Appeal Board’s decision, we are satisfied our appeal has resulted in a reduction in the points sanction.

"We understand the Appeal Board considered the 10-point deduction originally imposed to be inappropriate when assessed against the available benchmarks of which the club made the Commission aware, including the position under the relevant EFL regulations, and the nine-point deduction that is imposed under the Premier League’s own rules in the event of insolvency.

"The club is also particularly pleased with the Appeal Board’s decision to overturn the original Commission’s finding that the club failed to act in utmost good faith. That decision, along with reducing the points deduction, was an incredibly important point of principle for the club on appeal. The club, therefore, feels vindicated in pursuing its appeal.

"Notwithstanding the Appeal Board’s decision, and the positive outcome, the club remains fully committed to cooperating with the Premier League in respect of the ongoing proceedings brought for the accounting period ending in June 2023.

"The club is still considering the wider implications of the decision and will make no further comment at this time other than to place on record its thanks to our Fan Advisory Board and other fan groups throughout this process, and to all Evertonians for their ongoing support and patience.
The club seem overly happy with it, which is odd given that it's still an incredibly harsh penalty and our initial defence on the second charge suggested it hinged upon overturning this.

As the PL are making up the rules as they go along they can punish us in whatever seasons they decide, which is beyond ridiculous and open to corruption and favouritism.

The PL could punish us for 4 seasons all in the same season then only punish another team for one accounting period per season, even if they had comitted the same offences.

It's beyond unfair and any 2nd charge should be punished next season.
The second charge shouldn't be in any season if it comes within the timeframe of the first one. That's double jeapody which is something this country did of years ago I'm sure

At least we now know... Seeing the updated table is nice, but losing 6 points and being implicated in a second charge makes me very nervous. Maybe the two legal errors that the independent commission made could help us with the second charge.

…..my big hope is a little tension will go out of performance and the team will play with a bit more freedom. We were doing so well before the initial penalty, if we can return to that form it will go a long way to giving us a much needed buffer for the 2nd charge.

Going to be interesting to see if we up our performances now Eggs.
