6 + 2 Point Deductions

I can agree that Moshiri and the whole board at the time are idiots but £105m is definitely not generous, with a turnover like ours and that includes most of the other clubs. The top 6 turnover is monstrous compared to the bottom 14 and that is where that £105m is grossly unfair. Interest was allowed during the first period of the stadia build, Everton stated that in their defence, but Everton said that changed, if so that was strange, very strange. Also player x, was put forward by Everton and threw out as not a mitigating circumstance. I agree with Everton on that we indefinitely suspended him, how could we play him in them circumstances ?
So who would buy him ? That cost Everton.
Not saying we are totally innocent by any means, but in my view thd PL Masters wanted an example Everton were that perfect example.
To prove they could govern themselves. I will never forgive Moshiri, or Kenwright who professed we were innocent, confident and had nothing to worry about right to the very end. But don't worry you can't hurt the fans, yeah sing another song, you can't hurt the cartel fans.

We are the perfect club for these to drive home their plan to protect the status quo.

Buy a club, as long as the period owner hasn’t left a mess, you can invest in players… now if you recruit well, you need them to click and gel very quickly .
If you successfully break into the top 4 , you must have a good run to increase revenue , all the while not being able to spend again to cope with the extra games , making it harder to maintain your top 4 position.

If you don’t secure CL money in the second year … the third year rolling cycle approaches

If you cannot manage to secure the extra revenue , you will need to sell to balance the books. Usually to the richer teams , who in turn become stronger and make it even harder to break into the club.

We got it wrong but villa and Newcastle are trying now . Previously they may have decided to push the envelope a bit more but… we are Everton.

We are being hit so hard, hard enough that they are willing to put us into administration , so that any club that even considers flirting with PSR will be having second thoughts .

It’s not worth the risk.

what they want is the sly 6 at the top with a bunch of Brighton’s below them, taking risks on unknown players that when they turn out to be good, are ripe for the harvesting by the “ big” clubs .

Love to know how the PL could prove that was for day to day running of the club and not the stadium. Do you know ?
Our decision not to sue the player, hmmm. I'm sure the PL and other sporting bodies, have brought up players mental health, especially during the Covid period, what do you think might of happened if we would have just sued the player ? He must have been under great stress as it was, recently married, Covid, the under age charges. What would you have thought of " our club" ,if we would have done that ?
The Premier League knew it wasn't for the Stadium because in the paperwork for the loan, the Club stated the loan would not be used for the Stadium. You can't get any clearer than that.

Use of Funds
If the facility is successfully completed, the funds will be used for working capital facility
purposes. Hence, in the same way as the Rights and Media Funding Limited facility this
additional financing support will be used for operational purposes during the 2020/21
season.
We do not intend to use any of the funds for the new stadium project or to buy players in
the transfer window. These funds will be used to continue to support the Club and all of the
activities that the Club are involved in for the term of the facility.

It isn't about a moral issue though. It is whether it was probable that we could have recovered £10m by suing player X within that accounting period. The answer is almost certainly No as the Mutu case shows.

We have every right to use player X as mitigation what we couldn't do was use it to deduct £10m from our PSR losses.

I think what’s more apparent now, forgetting Everton, Forest, City etc etc, is that the system is flawed.

It would seem the system they have adopted to bring these charges, deductions, etc they are now making up as cases begin to appear. It seems that the Premier League are under pressure from the government to allow outside regulation and in order to show they don’t need it they are sanctioning teams. The system is so flawed it’s impossible to say if it’s fair or not.

Hopefully hanging on to next season (if we stay up despite the two deductions this season) so the -9 deduction comes then
For all the guessing about how we will fare in the future maybe the new rules, coming into effect this August will have a bearing on how we will be judged. Hopefully for the better it couldn’t get any bleedin’ worse ———could it?

I think the charges have done exactly what the set out to do. Reputational damge to City. Even if we get found innocent, no one will believe it.

But that's where the argument is. We can all in fight and have a go at the media (and them now have a go at us) about the variables and the rationale from the PL...but it's slowly moving away from the real issue....

Do these rules work? Does it still create a divide between the top and the bottom?

City can take reputational damage all day long. But it won't take their trophies away or put them in financial hardship

He did say this Barrister guy we have is the best of the best but he is picking off scraps due to the clubs bizarre defence previously.

If you were a billionaire … why wouldn’t you employ the best of the best the first time round?

He really is an idiot … throw money at crap players and sacking employees but then try and be stingy on your barrister that can potentially save you 100’s of millions of pounds
