The Premier League have painted themselves into a corner with the severity of their punishment, I wouldn't rule out them secretly approaching the club and saying, "drop your appeal and we won't try to punish you on Jan 15th for a further possible infraction.". Just the kind of subterfuge they would get up to in order to save face.
