watching it at the moment, WHAT THE ABSOLUTE F##K, they are supposed to be leaders? running the country? iv seen seven year olds behave better and make more of a debate than these tools. is it any wonder that people don't respect them? is it any wonder there is a growing lack of support at the ballot box? did these people actually get a university education? thank f''k i never went. my father would have slaughtered me for acting like that, never has the term "educated buffoons" seemed so apt.

oh sometimes QT has classic moments, like when a member of the audiance makes an MP squirm, or when hugh grant a##e raped the token tory on the panel.

Sure, but it's pretty shallow in terms of intellectual debate. You tend to get better analysis of issues on here than you get on Question Time. The whole audience clapping thing does tend to result in lowest common denominator stuff.

Bruce do you really think the public at large want heavy duty debate?

We may but the public mainly want this nonsense,i dont watch PMQ's and only rarely watch QT but i watched it last week and Hugh Grant utterly destroyed Grayling he was left to look amerterish at best, and kudos to Hugh he gave the Labour lad a kicking too

thats a bit pretencious bruce, most people are not that bothered with the minuteae of politics, thats why they PAY politicians, they just want the gist of it. in simple ,easy to digest language. the fact that politicians and others miss this ,important, point. is probably why a lot of people just think politicians are pompus windbags who talk big and act small. the sooner they think to "the lowest common denominator" the better. because THATS when people may start believing in politicians, and more importantly, go to the ballot box in greater numbers.

That's kinda why I don't think politics is right at the moment. You're both spot on that folks don't generally have the time or the inclination to look into all of this in any great depth. If you think of market supplied stuff, folks don't care how Tesco works (within reason), but if they don't do what they want, they want the freedom to shop at Asda or Sainsbury (or whoever).

Politics doesn't work like that as it demands people get bogged down in the personalities of those involved AND have to have an opinion on how things are delivered. It simply isn't realistic. I don't think people care how things are done (unless they behave badly), they care about what service they are offered.

maybe if we educated people properly regarding politics, finance etc. instead of giving too many people business degrees(thats why we have to many chiefs and not enough experience) university is all well and good for certain subjects. but if we do not get the basics BEFORE that, we're wasting time and money.

As you and I well know though, there is seldom one way to teach these things and diverging opinions are inevitable. At least in a properly working market I don't have to force my opinions and choices on you, and vice versa.

markets? sorry mate but all i see at the moment are cartels screwing us blind, and governments to weak or useless to do anything about it. and as for the EC, the sooner we're out of that corrupt little scumfest, the better.
