right, no idea about plumbing apart from the basics of water flows through pipes stuff so if anyone can give a no nonsense answer then that would be fantastic.

Our tap in the bath is broken. It is a roundish tap, nothing out the ordinary and you turn it to run the water. Except now it doesn't turn. Nobody has messed about with it as far as i can tell, perhaps the baby has but he clearly isnt mr monkey wrench to break it being only 3-4 at the time.

So whats up with it lads and how can i fix it? No water comes out when you turn it the slightest bit you can bar a tiny dribble of the stuff but the cold tap works like a charm. If you go on the assumption that this has done it by itself then perhaps the answer might be clearer?

Cheers in advance

If you live in a hard water area it could be corrosion. Whatever, just strip the tap down and have a look......

No idea how to take the tap apart if i'm being honest. Obviously you cant help me with that but any general ideas of what is wrong with it in the first place might encourage me to get the hammer out tonight to try and fix it so to speak.

I assume plumbing in the UK works like it does here...

Before you break down the tap, turn off the water

You should have a cover that unscrews, from there you should have a copper valve or similar. The valve should screw on/off (to open/close the water) and screw into the larger plumbing fixture.

Once you find the problem, liberally apply sawdust.
