I just read an article on the bbc website about that Arsenal lad, Emmanuel Pringpong. He has been charged by the FA for improper conduct (he apparently referred to a spurs supporter as a ''yid'' in a twit that he quickly removed after he was taken to task). Now,correct me if i'm wrong, but don't spurs supporters call themselves yids? Don't they walk around with t-shirts/jerseys with the words ''The Yid Army'' clearly emblazoned on the back? Is the term ''yid'' even offenssive?

What the FA should do is to hand out a list - to each and every single supporter - containing words that are not to be uttered/chanted at a football stadium. Some of us are losing track with what's seen as being reasonably acceeptable and what's deemed as being politacally incorrect .I wouldn't be surprised if i spent a weekend in jail with hardened thugs for affectionately reffering to Steven Pienaar as the ''little maestro with cornrows'' as that would be interpreted as racially insensitve by the off duty, plain clothed local Bobby sitting beside me at stadium who may i add, would like nothing more than to get his little 15 mins on SkySports for rooting the game of ''racist'' scum!! I am all for political correctness but really now, this is getting a tad bit ridiculous!!!

David Badiell has been leading a campaign to outlaw the word, he says that one of the most offensive things is Spurs fans using it, as in the vast majority of cases they aren't Jewish. He said that not being Jewish means that they don't hold a right to trivialise the word, in the sort of way that your homeboys throw the 'N' around and call each other it except that they are actually black.

Its all a bit of a grey area really. By the minority themselves (be it Yids for Jews, or Negro's for our Black brethren), calling each other by that name, it sort of makes it exclusive, but unfortunately it encourages idiots to use it in a derogative way. Sometimes however, its said in innocence and can cause quite a scene over nothing.
