Players we should be building our future round?

Silas

Player Valuation: £8m
In an ideal world were we didn't have to sell anyone in the summer unless we wanted to who would you build the team of the future on? Arteta, Cahill etc used to be our future but they are starting to become players that we will need to replace and there are perhaps players already at the club who can do that.

I would love our team to be built around...

Barkley, Garbutt, Fellaini, Rodwell, Coleman and Duffy. The players our arguably a ready made future. Who do you reckon will step up in the years to come?

Until we can actually get a feel for how many players we will have to sell to settle debts I wouldn't want to center anything around a particular player or players. I will let you know immdeiately once the club is sold as I know Kenwright is working hard on it.........yeah right.

Coleman, or Jags.

I see Spurs sniffed around Ferdinand recently, and as i said recently we are on a very VERY good position, having excellent English players in Baines, Jags, Rodwell, who will all be a premium purchase should Rubberneck come courting.

Jags is a natural successor to Terry IMO, i don't see any other CB's as natural at the back, and a captain potential as Jags does.

So in answer to the question, Jags! For a number of years he has been consistent, never spoken a bad word of the club, and is on a exceptional contract in terms of length.

I think we've got a really good bunch of players:

_________Howard
_Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
Coleman Rodwell Fellaini Arteta
________Cahill
____________Saha

(Osman, Beckford, Bily, Gueye)

I think what we need to do is to improve the standard of the squad so that Bily or Gueye have as much chance of playing as Arteta, for example, depending on form and fitness. At the moment, if someone plays badly, there's no one breathing down their neck. To a degree that's Moyes's doing, because he'll stick with the same side whether they're gifting the opposition goals or failing to find the net themselves for close to a year.

We're a strong TEAM. There are no weak links. Ideally we keep the side together and add one or two players each year to help improve it. I do think that there will be a bit of a clear out this summer (Turner, Mucha, Yobo, Heitinga, Yakubu and Vaughan) and that we'll see a few new faces coming in. The academy is looking strong, with players like Baxter, Duffy, Wallace, Garbutt, Barkley and Hope. Fingers crossed we'll see some of them starting to make the breakthrough.

I don't see why we need to bring in a new 2nd keeper every summer, they will each get maybe one or two cup games and then warm the bench for the better part of the season.
I think the squad we have is pretty strong, we mostly need to add depth. Specifically at left and right back as well as up front. Maybe a wide player. But to me the future looks bright, Beckford has found his feet I think and the youngsters that have now gotten some minutes in have not looked out of their depth at all. I feel like I've evaded the Thread question without even trying.

I'd build it around Baines/Jags/Fellaini or Rodwell/Gueye. I don't think it would be a huge disaster if either Fellaini or Rodwell went for a minimum of 20-25 million as they both play in the area where we have a wealth of players and neither one would be impossible to replace in the greater scheme..

Sadly, I think we need to look to the Championship to see who we'll be building our team around in the future.:(
