Player Valuation: £60m
Was thinking about this earlier.

Martinez has had a lot of deserved crticism this season and will likely pay with his job at some point and theirs no doubt his lack of managerial ability and flaws have hindered us and have turned players against him

But it also true the drop of in several players performances has been severe and can't be all down to the manager the likes of Coleman and McCarthy have fallen of a cliff this season. Mirrallas is in a perma strop and Howard has been absmyl. The lack of leadership from senior figures in the team has also been notably lacking at times.

Is their a tendency to hide behind a failing manager? And are we ignoring the alarming slump in form from several players

Yeah for sure.

They look unmotivated in the league, which is definitely in part down to the manager - but they're professional footballers. They should find motivation easy to come by.

The players should get as much stick as the manager. Only Lukaku and maaaybe Ross might have their heads high after the season ends.

However it is easier to remove one deluded bullshiit seller than 90% of the team.

Hopefully the new manager give them some hard times and make them man up

The players need to take more responsibility, there getting away with terrible performance /no effort due to fans hating Martinez more!

They're on thousands of pounds a week, and are the ones out there on the pitch and need to start playing for the shirt and more importantly for us fans!
Hard to turn around things when you have been in a rut for 2 seasons. New Management and style needed I feel.

Can't be bothered checking this in too much detail but it would be interesting to see if there's been a significant difference in performance/effort between those who are guaranteed a place in the Euros and those who may still be fighting for a place or not going.
Can't think who comes into final category other than Lennon and Barry at a stretch though.
You'd think some of them would be fighting to be automatic starters but sadly I think England in particular is more like a club nowadays and an impressive run in the league won't make much difference.
If there was less pressure on the manager I'd have suggested weeks ago that some brave selection decisions would shake them up. But the problem has remained for a long time now that there's nobody out on the pitch they are scared of or respect enough.

There are very few players who come out of this season with any credit - Lukaku and Barry have been the stand outs with Barkley Lennon and Deulofeu good in spells. The rest have varied from average to terrible.
I would also add Joel and Funes Mori who have stepped up in different ways and proven their doubters wrong this season but yeah that's about right

I don't think the players have got away with anything tbh,the fans make their feeling known week after week, the press have slated them time after time. Problem is they just aren't

A) arsed
B) not good enough
C) Need a new manager

Choose any ( or all of the above ) and that's where the truth lies imo

Also I must add, physically they don't look fit enough, but 100% mentally they are not fit enough. Too many mistakes and no consequences to any of them because the manager is weak.

Absolutely, some of the lads could do with being shown up a bit, we need someone to boss the lads about abit, or just a kid to come in and give 100% effort.

Certainly, they do deserve more criticism because even if they have downed tools for the manager, they owe the fans more than what they are showing. No heart, no desire doesn't all stem from the manager. they don't care enough either.

Who's to blame? Back to square one again with that i'm afraid, Martinez must go.

Absolutely spot on. Id also add physically theyre not fit enough....mentally theyre not tough enough. Theres something intrinsically wrong if professional footballers, toned and trained with sophisticated evaluations and state of the art facilities, nevertheless look half way through the second half red faced and blowing for tugs like a hungover docker walking up Boundary Street with a Capstan Full Strength on the go. Theres no mental nous to see things through... the undisciplined way we play generally in the last 10/15 mins of games, not just the way we concede goals straight after scoring but also our naïve play. Point A), 'not being arsed' though is totally unacceptable from anyone pulling the royal blue shirt on and is a complete insult. Style over substance may have been the early criticism....but now both have subsided, thank God were running out of games to throw away.
