I was having a look at clubs who have players out of contract in the summer.

We actually don’t tend to sign many free transfers but I do believe it’s a sensible approach. The likes of Juve have done it for years, and whilst there’s a signing on fee, it’s better for the books. Also worth bearing in mind some clubs might look to get what they can in January rather than lose out on a free.

Tarkowski has proven a good signing for us on a free.

Certainly, I’d be disappointed if we hadn’t asked the question on a few of them.

I think Regulion would be a good signing for Everton personally and I suspect he’d come here too.
