On and on, over the hill and the craic is good
my own impressions today, ecpxcellent in defence, team well set up and coped with loss of Besic in some style
Howard 6 didn't have much to do but wasn't convincing
Coleman 8 good raiding , good control sub Mori n/a looked classy
Jagielka 8 stronger formate, good double teaming
Stones 9 awesome
Galloway 9 superb, poise and confidence
Besic n/a sub Naismith 10 - marvellous scored 1st ever hatrick v a Mourinho Chelsea
McCarthy 7 efficient, broke play up well
Barry 8 good game complemented McCarthy well, some passing not great
Barkley 7 played well but still delays some passes
Kone 8 good in defence, good running forward, some dumb passes sub Lennon 7
Lukaku 7 efficient but non thrreatening

Barkley needs at least another mark.

Howard 6
Coleman 9
Jagielka 8
Stones 8
Galloway 8
McCarthy 7
Barry 8
Barkley 9
Kone 8
Lukaku 6
Naismith 10
Lennon 7

Thought Mori looked good too but wasn't on long enough. Howard's 6 because of how little he had to do not due to performance.

Pretty much agree with this. Could argue which of Coleman, Stones or Galloway deserves the 9. Spot on with Rom too. Some parts of his game are great but he really lets himself down with his ball control and cumbersome link up play.

Shearer slams Van Gaal

United currently sits fifth in the Premier League table with seven points from four games and Shearer is not impressed with its performances so far this campaign, stressing that Sunday morning's (AEST) match against Liverpool is a must-win for the Old Trafford side.

"I would argue Louis van Gaal cannot even afford to draw the game against Liverpool," Shearer writes for The Sun.

"He has been asking for more time for his team to blend, for young players to develop etc. Time is up I'm afraid - the time is now.

"You cannot oversee the changes he has made, backed by hundreds of millions, and then claim you are a victim because it needs time to blend. It is your job to mould a side and I would suggest a year is plenty for a club of Manchester United's standing.

"You can get away with the dull, functional football Van Gaal is dishing up if you are getting results. But if you go back to the end of last season, Van Gaal's league run over the last 10 games now stands at four wins, three draws and three defeats.

"Van Gaal's CV has afforded him the time that David Moyes was not given. But a poor result on Saturday and questions will start to be asked."

United last won the Premier League title in 2012-13 and have since had to settle for seventh and fourth place in the table.

hr Coleman, Stones

WTF? lol

Barkley definitely a 9....two assists and retained the ball amazingly under pressure all game...his performance as a No 10 yesterday was better than any potential signing we would have made

Howard - 6
Coleman - 8
Stones - 9
Jags - 8
Galloway - 8
McCarthy - 7
Barry - 7
Naismith - 9
Barkley - 8
Kone - 7
Lukaku - 6

My students always complain I give low grades.

Howard - 7
Coleman - 7.5
Stones - 8.5
Jags - 8
Galloway 8

Stones stood out head and shoulders above the rest of the defence - none had anything less than a decent game..

McCarthy - 7.5
Barry - 8
Besic - N/A
Naismith - 9
Barkley - 8

All decent, did their job to the required level and snuffed out Chelsea (mind you, Chelsea did a fair job of doing that for themselves)

Kone - 8
Lukaku - 7

Simply because they didn't hit the net doesn't make for a poor effort. Both carried the load well. Kone found Coleman well and wasted nothing, almost scored with a decent header. Lukaku became a more isolated figure when the game was tight but still caused trouble and did well late on.

Lennon 7, RFM 7
