Love him or hate him, he's here to stay in European football. Personally I find the man very arrogant, but he is French.
Anyway, that's beside the point.
He actually made some sense in his thoughts about goal-line technology. Having an extra assistant behind the goal should be sufficient enough to state whether or not a ball has crossed the line. Sure technology would say to the minutest measurement if a ball has crossed the line or not, but then we are taking away the nature of the game by doing so.
Part of the reason football is so great is because there are errors made, it is flawed, and it sparks topical debates.
Obviously there have been some unbelievable decisions in the past 5 years where a ball has clearly crossed the line, Spurs Man U game for one. And then there is the incredible event of that clown who ruled a goal that never was for Reading v Watford I believe, Stuart Attwell.
But having someone behind the goal would be able to ascertain if a ball had clearly crossed the line, plus they would be able to assist in any pushing that goes on in the box.
I think that would be the right move, and I can understand his desire to not let it become TV oriented like American Football is.
So Allez Bleus!
