Not the prettiest looking, but wow.

Something about those lightnings. Not the prettiest like you say but they give off a vibe of raw power.

The F14 and spitfire are just legendary.

My mate was in the navy during the first gulf War

The yanks used to hate it when they kept shining up the first stealth bomber they had

lol I'm guessing lotox because of the corrosive sea water?

I've also seen lads use aviation fuel to clean an aircraft, not that I would condone that... Works though!

I've posted this multiple times in the things that make you happy thread...been in to this stuff since a relative, who was an engineer for GE on their turbines, took me on base at Miramar...this was right after the original Top Gun came out (I guess parts of it were filmed there), so I was 11 or 12, hence the ongoing infatuation.

But this is some shiz right here...all G runs, very little break time.

Commercial? A380. Getting bumped to first class Dubai to Sydney cemented it. Full on tory living but you're not turning it down.

As a small boy trekking around airshow with dad my favourite was always the Phantom. (particularly the American ones with smokey J79 engines. Sorry Greta.)

The absolute Daddy for me is the F15 Eagle. It's record is unrivaled and as we move into a more remote piloting age, it will never get close to being matched, let alone surpassed.

Got lots of back seat rides when I was in the RAF. Hawk/Tornado and loads of Hawk rides super low over the desert when I moved to the UAE.

When I next get over to the US I have a ride in a P51 waiting for me. The husband of a friend of mine has possibly the best job for an aviation nut. He looks after a private collection of Warbirds (maintains and Flys them) on behalf of the owner who never flies them, even as a passenger. Currently the collection is Spitfire, Corsair, Warhawk and the P51. (He also works 1 week out of 4 for Elon Musk, so I guess that brings him back to reality)

Enjoyed working on and flying round in these. Technically, not a plane, though.
First ride in one if those over in Germany I thought it was broken.

Whole thing twisting and rocking until the roots got up to speed lol

Same flight we almost collided with a Canadian F18 out of Baden Soellingen. Hearing the Loadmaster shout JET over the intercom a literal second before it whizzes past the open ramp is a reminder how quickly things can go badly wrong.

A great plane in sense of scale and comfort, but sadly its days are numbered. I think only Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa fly it regularly.

I know the latter have brought a few back into their fleet, but the rest are mothballed (like with other airlines) due to their horrendous fuel economy.

Yeah, saw a BA one leaving Dubai a few days back but they're not as common a sight as they were outside of Emirates. (Still the most common commercial airliner in these parts, and probably will be for the next 10 years.)

C'est très beau!
Was in Oman a few weeks ago and came across a crash sight of an earlier DH Venom high up on a plateau.

Turns out the RAF idiot flying it fancied strafing a herd of goats for practice and flew it into the ground.

Instant Karmas gonna get ya!

Emirate's model is to work as a carrier from their central hub in the Middle East to other global hubs, where they're ferried to their final destination.

This is where the A380 can work effectively for them because it enables them to move lots of passengers at once from hub to hub - it's why they pushed for it.

On the other hand, it doesn't work for others.
