Right! After taking some time to reflect, on what was a truly shocking game last night. I'm sure I'm echoing the thoughts of many evertonians when I say "where's the plan B??".

Yes he didn't have one, but last night was just one of many poor performances throughout this shocker of a season!

The key let down (among many) is the lack of true wing play and a defence that are so poor, many a pub team would be eyeing us up for easy points.

Realising that the joy of QPR away is just round the corner and not knowing if we can turn up and put a few past them or scrape a last minute draw in an all out relegation scrap - I thought, well I like to moan about it but what would I do?

The answer is.... play Baines LW and Coleman RW - With Garbutt and Browning at left and right back respectively.

Surely this would solve the problem of having wingers who don't track back and could even allow Coleman to find his excellent attacking form that kept many of us off our seats last season! Plus having Garbutt & Baines launching in crosses is surely an exciting prospect ?!

It's just my 2 pence to solve one of the many problems this season and it's my first forum post! So I'd like to hear what you think / what would be your plan B? Other than the obvious "Sack him" shouts - which I still believe are too early (But that's for another post!).

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to send Bill Kenwright my CV!

I wonder which alias this is. Either way, didn't we play Coleman as a right winger once this season already and ineffectively?

Then there was the whole Seamus as a right winger experiment under Moyes... I recalled that wasn't too successful either.

Playing two wingers would be the easiest and probably most effective option, although we obviously mustn't understand the grand plan.

Sorry Roberto doesn't do plan B. We have been stuck with his Plan A all season, but he states "he won't change his football philosophy". What manager retains the same system week in,week out and bar swapping players in the same system, and won't change it even if it hasn't been working? Last night was as close a performance you could have seen from Wigan under Martinez when they got relegated. Poor at the back and lack of cover from midfield which leads to goals conceded. Can't wait for this desperate season to be over.

We'll have a plan B. We'll have a very carefully devised plan B.

The issue is, he isn't willing to use it.

When he has, ie. two up front against Newcastle with Gibson and McCarthy in the middle and a bit more 'up and at 'em', we win 3-0.

Plan B should be Plan A until we have world class players in every position. Then this will work.

There is a slight problem here. Martinez decided he was too smart to learn English the basic way . So he picked some bigger words to start with first like phenomenal and unique performance etc. He decided not to start with the alphabet. He doesn't know it so that's why we have no plan be. So here's a lesson for him . Let's start with M then U then P and P again and let's finish with E and T

Logically it's a great idea. Allowing them to push on more with their best attributes, and also being able to support the left backs as they have those defensive qualities and experience.

On the negative side, i couldn't honestly ever see it happening under Martinez.

Fans may not recognise it, but Roberto does have a Plan B. For example, in the derby, bringing on Alcaraz for Besic was in fact an attacking move. It changed the balance of play, and came ever so close to changing the result too.

Everton had contained the threat of Liverpool, and tried to pinch a winning goal at the end. By switching to a back three, Roberto was actually pushing the two fullbacks further forward. And it very nearly worked. Barkley - who had come on for Naismith - played a long diagonal pass to Coleman running up the wing unmarked. His powerful shot produced the save of the game from Mignolet.

You can debate whether Roberto could - or should - have made the change earlier. But the change opened up the play, and Liverpool could have taken advantage of the space behind Coleman and Oviedo. Roberto was determined not to lose the game, and so he made the change quite late.

The change showed that Roberto does have the ability to impose a change on the game. It's a pity that he hasn't been able to impose his authority more often. The Gwladys Street End booed the arrival of Alcaraz, regarding it as a defensive change. They simply got it wrong. And if they can't tell the difference between attack and defence, then they may not be the best people to pass judgement on Roberto.
