The family of Reeva Steenkamp have reacted furiously to the news her killer Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison in a matter of weeks.
The disgraced athlete is due to be freed on August 21 despite being sentenced to five years for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva, South African authorities confirmed today.
It means the 28-year-old will have served exactly ten months in jail, less than a fifth of his sentence.
In a statement, the Steenkamp family reacted with dismay.
They said: "...we do not seek to avenge her death and we do not want Mr Pistorius to suffer; that will not bring her back to us. "
"However a person found guilty of a crime must be held accountable for their actions. "
