Think it was the WBA game, but the commentator mentioned that Pienaar had signed for us 4 times - 2 loan and 2 permanent.

Must be a record for us? Wondered if it was a record full stop for the same club? Anyone know?

What always still sticks in my throat is the fact he left us the last time! Last game the season then he was nearly in tears...... was he in tears when he was getting his big fat Sign On fee at Spurs ? Dont get me wrong, i think he is a quality footballer but still dont trust the man.

To be fair at the time we wouldn't offer him the same wage as a crab-like Arteta when he had been our player of the year.

It's not like he was 100% to blame for the whole ordeal.

His desperation to come back made me forgive him anyway. That and you know, him being ace at this football lark.

Personally I don't blame him in the slightest for moving on.

The fact is that he was our best player and deserved at least parity with Arteta (although we probably couldn't afford that), when he was offered nowhere near that from all accounts. He must have felt a bit insulted.

I think that's the key really. From the figures banded around it was less than Heitinga, wasn't it?

I'm not one to moan about us not paying high wages but you can see how it might be a bit insulting.

Heitinga is on around £60k isn't he? I thought Pienaar was offered somewhere between £55-65k with Arteta being on around £75k? That's the impression I was under any way.

I think it was a bit reckless putting Arteta on that much money, sure it tied him down to a longer deal but that didn't really work in our favour in the end with regards to getting the best price for him.

To be fair, in hindsight, I think we got a decent price for Mikky.

He was well past his best and even though he's been influential for Arsenal, and we do still in my opinion miss that calming presence in the centre, £10m for a 29 year old who'd given us his best years was perhaps decent business.

Pienaar was pretty up front about it all too, shame it wasn't sorted before he only had such a short amount of time on his contract.

In some ways I think we got an alright price, but then you look how much the RS got for Meireles at exactly the same time for a player in a similar position and it makes me feel like we were short changed. But then they are in an entirely different position to us.

I was surprised by his impact at Arsenal, but there he's more of a cog in a system with them where as with us he was the playmaker and heart of the team. I think he's relishing the less responsibility.
