Its a long exposure to get the moving lights but with a flash fired to light the people to freeze them. It takes a bit of practice but fairly easy when you know how.

Will have to try that... though I only have (and prefer) a small, cheap Canon point-and-shoot, and I doubt it could even manage.

Yeah, i don't think you'll manage it on a point and shoot. You'll need fully manual settings on the camera and flash.

It would depend very much on what it is you want to do with the camera.

Do you want to have manual settings so you can actually learn some photography or do you just want a good quality point and shoot? Do you want to be able to have different lenses for different types or shots or a single lens to do everything? Do you want small and lightweight to be able to take everywhere with you or bulky so it feels better in your hand?

Most likely good quality point & shoot, however doesn't need to be single lens or small/lightweight.

Eyes are bad today, but went for walk regardless.

Took this, which I'm fairly happy with.

Ended up buying the a7 from him, he wanted rid and the price was great (£350, with a kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8 prime).

I got a couple Canon FD lenses about, so I'm probably going to get the adapter and run with those for awhile.

Mrs B is thinking about having some glamour photo’s done.

Can anyone recommend a good wide angled lense for such a shoot. Preferably with soft focus?
