In an effort to regain mental control I've decided to get back into photography.
I had a Canon 30D which has stopped working after 3 or so years of being left in a damp cupboard. Fortunately, been given a Nikon D200 to play around with as I'm too skint to afford any sort of replacement.
What I lack in artistic ability I partially make up for with the use of post-processing (all free to use, and respecting of your digital rights). I'll list a couple off here if you're interested in getting into that.

- darktable: Photography workflow application and raw processor, basically a free (and arguably better) Adobe Lightroom. https://www.darktable.org/
- RawTherapee: Another Lightroom-esque application that works pretty well. http://rawtherapee.com/
- GIMP: Pixel-editing software, or a free Adobe Photoshop. http://www.gimp.org/
- G'MIC: Really sturdy framework for image processing. I used to work on this years ago, so I have a horse in the race here - but it really is excellent. http://gmic.eu/
- Hugin: Best panorama stitching/blending application I've ever used. http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
- Shotwell: What I use to strip my CF cards and get them on my system, only available on Linux. https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Shotwell
