Woolly Blue

Player Valuation: £80m
There's lots of talk on here about who may or may not join / leave over the Summer but what do people think about the fact that the skipper wants to play for another couple of years ?

For me, two things last season made me realise just how highly I regarded him:-

1. I was worried about his comments in the last transfer window with the Sp*rs bid, when it sounded like he was hankering after a last shot at European football

and

2. When, for the last game of the season I heard he wasn't even on the bench my inital thought was "Sh*te is he on his way out and Moyes has dropped him ?" only to find he'd had a dodgy implant ( tooth not man boob ) !

Maybe a few years ago I'd not have thought twice about PN leaving / retiring, but now, that thought worries me. We need someone like PN to hold things together and be a leader on the pitch. I know Jags is "being groomed" for that role but I'm not sure he's up to it so I for one, am happy to see Nevs around for a little longer yet.

I rate him a lot more than most on here do. He's a good lad and he does a good job for the team. Might be time not to play him every match mind, but I'm glad he's still at the club.

We (and football) need people like Phil Neville. Granted there are many more talented footballers around, but there are few as gifted as Phil Neville.

For me, he can stay at Everton FC for life, be that as a future manager, or simply in the same mould as past greats such as Labone or Hickson, doing his part for the club off the pitch.

I genuinely respect the man, and if he can keep doing a job for us on the pitch too, let him continue.

Phil Neville makes us fashionable and I hope he is around for the rest of his career at Everton. When we bought him, Moyes said he saw him for a CM role. That has not worked out, but he is a very important member of the club as a whole. He's a nice guy.

He is good for us, but I fail to see what is fashionable about him, or the importance of it to be honest

What I meant is he's a former England international, played for Man Utd, obviously knows lots and lots of English or English based players. So I feel it is relevant and that's what I meant. He is a name that is known. When people around Europe ask who plays for Everton, they are likely to say Saha and Neville before the likes of Jags or Baines. I'm glad he fancied us and I believe we've been good for him.

OK I'll come clean. I meant his finger-pointing. It's a fashionable thing to do these days.

He's just a true professional who leads by example. He's committed to the cause as that tackle on Ronaldo proved it for me.

He does well to embody the club with his classy play, and if he does go, I hope it's in a few years and to MLS so I can watch him.

I've become a pretty big Phil Neville fan (I'm still not sold on Gary Neville or Aaron Neville). I think his leadership and experience are highly valuable. Plus, that tackle on Ronaldo was awesome. Granted, he's not the most gifted player but he's an important one. He seems to be highly respected by his peers. He can stay around as long as he wants, as far as I'm concerned.
