Anyway there is a point to this thread...

Yesterday i thought neville had a solid performance, his crosses were good, his passes were good, and so was his tackling...Last year he didnt have the best of performances, but so far this year i think he has been pretty solid (when playing at right back), and yesterdays match showed his progress imo, your thoughts?

It was nice to see both full backs combining well with their wing men. Offered us some great attacking options and the Cahill and Pienaar goals were gems.

i dont think there's any doubt that Neviile is a top full back, just that he shouldnt be first choice in midfield

I really rate Pienaar too, with Arteta and him on the wings the full backs have someone who can keep the ball and play them in when needs be.

much better as a right back, where he can keep his breath and push up every once in a while rather than constantly trying to be involved with the attack.

At RB he's generally been good, sometimes excellent. At the same time, when he's not in midfield we pass the ball around much better. CT Jr. observed during the Sunderland game that Neville's passing is so much better when he's near a sideline. No doubt in my mind that he's a natural full-back.

I think in a lot of ways neville is a lot like Beckham in this sense, when we have a good game he looks good and when we have a bad game he looks bad, but in reality I think his actual performances don't differ.

I've always thought since the day we signed him that Neville brought a different level to this club, a higher level of proffesionalism and attitude.
