Phil Neville in a movie

to be fair giggs does seem to get a free ride over it, if that had been joey barton imagine what people would say

he hasn't got a free ride, tho, has he? This thread and any future thread about him anywhere in the internets will have a few people displaying their moral superiority by announcing how much they disapprove of him cheating on his wife.

It's like Chris Huhne articles: no matter how intelligent and vital his argument is, someone will ignore the topic and mention how much of a slimeball he is because of that speeding ticket thing.

It seems that if you're in some way famous, and you do something wrong that affects no one else other than yourself and your family, a sizable portion of the public will never let you forget it. What's that about, exactly?

I think that's one of the reasons why the country's run by untrustworthy slippery idiots: because sane normal people wouldn't survive in that kind of environment.

The public get the celebrities (and politicians) they deserve.

When I was in Uni and had all the time in the world to waste I started writing a script for an Everton film called "Dogs of War". Basically the damned united but with Royle as the main character struggling against the rule of Peter Johnson.

Only got as far as the Wimbledon game in 1994 as a prelude, with "Zac Efron as Anders Limpar" (actor yet to be approached).

Maybe I'll resurrect it at some point, but then I suspect it would get about 17 views worldwide as we're not the red ones across the park who, as far as the whole world (particularly Canada) is concerned are the only team in Liverpool.

I'll watch it and tell the kopites at work how great it was just to see the froth coming out their mouth.

I find the P Neville and Butt success story a blessing to us all that you don't need to be any good at football or good looking to succeed in the beautiful game

People simply love to see other people fall flat on their arse, figuratively and literally.

Just seen the thread title I assume he's decided to once again masquerade as an athletic 19-23 year old man and audition for Star Wars in Manchester? Heard JJ Abrams prefers experience for youthful roles central to his films apparently.*

*veiled Moyes dig

Anyone seen this? There's a bit where Nev is talking about how he'd been working on his stepovers and finally did it in a game and everyone thought he was taking the piss, had me in stitches.
Found this quote online:
“Rene’s big thing was that in a game, under the most pressure, you need something to get you out of trouble. And me being a full-back, he thought I should learn how to do a step-over. I was serious about it. I practised for six months and then we had a game against Southampton and the opportunity just came to try it out. I turned round, feeling quite pleased with myself, and the first thing I saw was Giggsy and Becks laughing their heads off. Another time, and Roy Keane was on his way over. 'Stop effing about and play football,' were the exact words."
