Petition: New Stadium - Grimsby Town

Hi there Everton fans :)

Any chance I can get some extra signatures for my club to acquire a new stadium? Only takes a few minutes, we would really appreciate your help.

We have been trying for the last 20 years, but setbacks due to location, nimby's, and funding have set us back.

This is an official petition made by Grimsby Town Football Club over the last few months, which will be handed into our local council for planning permission.

Circa 500 permanent jobs, and 500 temporary construction jobs. For the long term survivability of the club, not only will it help the club, it will help with community projects in Education and Health.

Thank you.

Cracking idea.

How would we feel if the council decided to build Liverpool a free stadium out of council funds?

Grimsby's a one-club town though, and it's not just a stadium, it's part of a regeneration plan. Hull did a similar thing when they built their stadium and, in terms of self-funding and external funding, the economics of getting a new stadia for Grimsby and Liverpool FC are massively different.

Thanks for the signatures, we appreciate it. :)

Hi, it's Council owned land, but the funding is coming from the enabling retail development including hotel and petrol station, also this will provide 500 new permenent jobs, as well as 500 temporary contract jobs for the construction of the stadium, so it's good for the local economy in providing much needed jobs for the area.

If it's all funded, why does it need a petition? Is there no planning permission on that land or something?

My point was that given a population of 90,000, there are going to be a good number of people there that don't care about Grimsby football club (just as we don't care about Liverpool). I don't think it's wrong for one group to have to pay to support another, even if they don't want to. If they used a crowdfunding site then those who value the project would fund it, and those that didn't, wouldn't.

Seems a lot fairer to me.

Had a great day on the ale for a league cup tie at Grimsby a long long time ago. We lost 2-1 I think.
