Good afternoon,

I Bought a French Bulldog pedigree and need to insure him. I'm aware I need lifetine cover and that the breed do tend to have health problems. Having done a quick comparison and asking friends etc, I was recommended petplan. Now having him down as a pedigree it comes up to £111 pm but putting him down as a cross it brings the cost down to £26 pm. Is there anyway that the insurance company would ever know he's a full pedigree if I lost the KC papers? Or is it worth going with a cheaper company like morethan or boughtbymany and being honest because £111 is extortionate. I'm also thinking once the premium goes up the other companies will probably cost as much as petplan anyway.

Thanks

Look at Tesco pet insurance mate. That's who I went with, petplan tends to be recommended by vets etc as it's a quick payer but I found it more expensive.

Wouldn't look to blag it, the vet will know pedigree status.

Generally insurance companies find the truth out.

If you lower his value then the premium should drop. The monthly payment for my 3 dogs is less than that.

It's what I'd be worried about. End up with a huge bill as my policy is voided.

I'll have a look at the reviews. Have you ever needed to claim from them?

Thanks

We went with Petplan when we got our pedigree dog a few years back, because the vet recommended it. We claimed more than our premiums in the first year, and I think we were paying £60 a month roughly. Puppies are accident prone especially boisterous breeds.

Also yours will be higher because Frenchies are being stolen left right and centre, especially young puppies so if you lower his value or purchase price then you'll lose out if god forbid someone robbed him

We are With Animal Friends now and it's £38 quid a month which isn't so bad.

As with ALL insurance, the sensible thing to do is to shop around. Get loads of quotes from various insurers.
It may be a ball ache shopping around , but the difference in charges on insurance policies can be massive and make it well worth the effort.

*That, or a ball pein hammer.

BTW our pet insurance is via LV

I had a look at Animal Friends and was so close to buying with them and then I saw particular reviews on a site and it was 1 star after 1 star. Basically trying their best not to pay out.

The breeder my mum got her puppy from recently recommended Argos for pet insurance, hadn't even considered that they'd sell that sort of thing. I'm not sure if they quote on comparison sites but worth a look.

They do pop up on comparisons thanks. I'll have a look at their reviews.

I have been told to avoid anything underwited by E & L.

Yeah I've noticed the difference is massive. Just sometimes not worth going with the cheapest if they don't pay out.

Total con mate, 10 X's worse than peoples medical insurance.
Put the money in an Acc. month by month

Short version 1; yes we'll happily Insure your young, fit, healthy pet for a serious wedge per month.
Short version 2; yes of course the premiums go up as your pet gets older, less fit and healthy - what do you think we are a service to help you.
Short version 3; you want to claim for what?...yes there are exclusions as your pet gets older, it was in the fine print.
Short version 4; ...but you can't just cancel...this happened to me honest.

Short version 5; 'KIN SWERVE.
