When applied to over here I was thinking more in the way of checks on who and what is being preached, a complete ban on all shariah law practices ( you know everyone else has to abide by this futile man made law, why should they be an exception?), no muslim faith schools, no more mosques until we can control the ones we already have. By control I don't mean infringe religious freedom I mean stamp out behaviours and rhetoric which could be damaging to the wider community.

War isn't the answer. A wall of silence isn't either. There needs to be peaceful lawful ACTION.

yeah..theres certainly stuff you can suggest and debate here, but I was more thinking foreign policy and other govts policy towards these groups

Considering Osama was doing loads of promotion videos in the 90's he never mentions Al Qaeda but Islamic Jihads. It was Al-Zawahiri who had the ideology of attacking the US in the hope of the masses rising up with inspiration from the attacks on the Western world.

Osama was a terrorist, but we stretched the truth about him. Just like we did with Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.

The Egyptian contingent that Bin Laden was financing (Islamic Jihad) committed the Luxor massacre. They murdered 50 westerners including 4 Britons (one was a 5 year old child) then used machetes on the dead women.

You can try and deny his involvement but this was proven. Al Qaeda formed around a core of former Egyptian Islamic Jihad members.

Bin Laden 'behind Luxor massacre'

Four Egyptians and 58 tourists died in the attack

Egypt has told a Swiss delegation it believes the Saudi dissident, Osama bin Laden, financed the 1997 massacre of tourists in Luxor.

Four Egyptians and 58 tourists - 35 of them Swiss nationals - were killed in the attack by Muslim militants.

Switzerland's federal police chief, Urs Von Daeniken, told journalists that Egypt suspects the Luxor massacre was ordered by an Egyptian named Mustafa Hamza and carried out with funding from Osama bin Laden.

Mr Hamza is said to be a military leader of Egypt's largest Muslim militant group, the Gamaa al-Islamiyya, and appeared to have given either direct or indirect instructions for the attack from Sudan.

He is now believed to be living in Afghanistan, where Mr bin Laden has his headquarters.

The United States has accused Osama bin Laden of masterminding a terrorist network suspected of bombing two American embassies in Africa last year.

Washington responded with missile attacks on sites in Afghanistan and Sudan said to be linked to Mr bin Laden, but has failed to produce strong evidence to support the Sudanese connection.

Mr Von Daeniken said Switzerland was satisfied with Egypt's conclusion in light of the available evidence

This is so awful it's difficult to find any words. It actually makes me feel like crying if I think about it too hard. Those who perpetrated the attack are beyond depravity.
