Can I just add that for youth and underage teams, performance should always trump results. One of the major failings of English football in the past has been due to kids and youth teams concentrating on winning only. This blunts skill and tactical development (eg playing the ball out from the back) and in the long term produces technically inferior players.

Even Aston Villa will grind out a result before the season is out. If their general performance was better, they wouldn't be where they are. Individual setbacks suck, but I'm a great believer in long term indicators.
