This may sound cold but how hard is it to kill yourself in a way which

1. Doesn't screw over others
2. Doesn't traumatise a driver for life

Im fuming and maybe it's selfish but my nan died earlier today, she raised me for large parts of my childhood so are pretty close. I got a call from hospital saying she was close to passing away so I jump on a train in the hope of seeing her one last time before she dies and would have got there in time but no... someone decides to jump infront of a train somewhere and my train gets aborted and ultimately I get delayed by 2 hours, she passes away about half hour before I get to the hospital.

Fuming and Gutted

Edit: I know they aren't in a state of mind to think rationally about their actions effecting others. Doesn't make it any less infuriating for me though !

Mate that's so unlucky. Sorry to hear for your loss. Obviously they have to be in a pretty messed up place to even consider doing that but ultimately I agree, selfish thing to do.

not just jumping infront of a train but actually killing your self is defo the most selfish thing anyone could ever do imo.

I agree, the strain it puts on others after your death is horrendous.

I know of a case at my school where a lad left a suicide note blaming a group of kids for bullying him, and it was proven afterwards that they had had nothing to do with him. But the accused were broken by it.

Sorry for your loss.

While I sympathise for you, the person who took their life must of been in an horrific way to consider it. I personally don't consider it selfish, more that we need to understand more about mental issues within people to prevent such things happening

Sorry to hear about your loss, moosed.

Obviously someone's already in a bit of a state to kill themselves, but as you say why traumatise a train driver? And hold people up. As selfish as it sounds people, like you, have got important places to be.

sorry to hear about your loss mate,

for people who say suicide is cowardly, its selfish but certainly isn't cowardly, Ive served in the armed forces and seen some things, but I know I would never have the bollocks to do myself in must be terrifying to be in that state of mind.

I can't comprehend what you must be going through when u consider suicide, I don't think selfishness comes into as I doubt you can rationalise the decision

Sorry to hear about your loss, a very sad time for you. Think though about cause and effect, if the train had not been delayed, you got to where you wanted to be but got knocked down running over the road, one never knows.

Sorry for your loss mate.

Like a few others have said, we need to understand mental health a bit more. Whilst suicide is a very tough thing on everyone, for to be in a situation were you feel death will be a release of what bothers you must be a very horrible thing.

Im afraid anyone who is in this zone would not be thinking of anything other than wanting to terminate their own life.

In many ways your lucky to have had such a wonderful experience with your nan, and whilst saying you goodbyes is very important to you, the person who killed themselves today may never had such a connection with anyone.

Again I know there are many ways to kill yourself without involving everyone else, but maybe the person wanted to do it without having much time to even think about it.

I know this wont have been any comfort to you, but just remember that you are very lucky to be in a good place mentally, that you can think and make decisions whilst understanding the impact on others, and some people just are not.

All the best fella!
